A Note on Data Referenced in "The Rise and Fall of the Chinese Economy"
In the Marginal Revolution University video, "The Rise and Fall of the Chinese Economy" we include a graphic showing debt for China versus other countries.
The figure for China refers to total debt, whereas the visual representations for Japan and the other countries in the graphic refer to their external, foreign-held debt only. The two data sources were spliced together through a technical error.
We'd like to thank the folks at the Lowy Institute for bringing this to our attention and hope we're able to provide some clarity by sharing the following data:
External Debt to GDP (Wikipedia)
