Econ in the News: Extra Credit/Independent Study Assignment

This worksheet is designed to help students dig deeper into the economic forces behind everyday news. The questions are written to broadly apply to most economic phenomena and are intended to guide students to more closely examine economic concepts.

You can use this worksheet on a one-off basis as a homework or extra credit assignment, or use it for a recurring weekly assignment. (It’s also great as an activity for student econ clubs!) Either assign a single article to the whole class, provide a few options for students to choose from, or have students find their own econ-related article as a first step in the assignment.
