Eligibility: United States residents who are high-school teachers or academic staff, except as specified below.  Void where prohibited by law.  Residents of New York, Florida, Rhode Island, or Vermont are not eligible.  Employees or affiliates of George Mason University or the Mercatus Center and their households and immediate families are not eligible.  Individuals who would be barred from receiving the prize by state or local law or by their employer’s rules are not eligible; the entrant represents that no such restriction applies. 

Entry:  Enter online at learn.mru.org/inflation-giveaway.  Limit one entry per person.  

Promotion Period: Promotion begins January 10, 2023 at 8:00 AM EST and ends February 28, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST.  Promotion is divided into three Entry Periods:

• Entry Period 1: 8:00 AM EST, January 10, 2023 through 11:59 PM EST, January 24, 2023
• Entry Period 2: 12:00 AM EST, January 25, 2023 through 11:59 PM EST, February 16, 2023 
• Entry Period 3: 12:00 AM EST, February 17, 2023 through 11:59 PM EST, February 28, 2023 

Prizes: 200 prize packages, each containing 2 Zimbabwe banknotes of a discontinued series no longer valid as legal tender.  Denomination and physical condition of banknotes may vary at Sponsor’s discretion.  The banknotes distributed as prizes have been represented to Sponsor as authentic, but Sponsor cannot independently validate that representation and makes no representation about the banknotes’ authenticity.  Approximate retail value of each prize package: $2.        

Odds of Winning: Odds of winning depend on the date of entry and the number of valid entries received in each Entry Period.  

Selection of Winners: Sponsor will select winners at the end of each Entry Period.

• Entry Period 1: Sponsor will select 100 winners on January 25, 2023 by random drawing from all valid entries received during Entry Period 1.  Each winner will receive one prize package.  Winners will be notified and prizes distributed via mail by February 10, 2023.  If fewer than 100 valid entries are received during Entry Period 1, then all eligible entrants will receive a prize, and the remaining prizes will be added to the number of prizes available for Entry Period 2.
• Entry Period 2: Sponsor will select 50 winners (or more if unawarded prizes rolled over from Entry Period 1) on February 17, 2023 by random drawing from all valid entries received during Entry Period 2 plus all valid entries received during Entry Period 1 that did not win a prize for Entry Period 1.  Each winner will receive one prize package.  Winners will be notified and prizes distributed via mail by March 1, 2023.  If fewer valid entries are received than the number of available prizes, then all eligible entrants will receive a prize, and the remaining prizes will be added to the number of prizes available for Entry Period 3.
• Entry Period 3: Sponsor will select 50 winners (or more if unawarded prizes rolled over from Entry Period 2) on March 1, 2023 by random drawing from all valid entries received during Entry Period 3 plus all valid entries received during Entry Period 1 or Entry Period 2 that did not win a prize for either Entry Period.  Each winner will receive one prize package.  Winners will be notified and prizes distributed via mail by March 31, 2023.  If fewer valid entries are received than the number of available prizes, then all eligible entrants will receive a prize, and the excess prizes will not be awarded.

By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Rules, and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements set forth herein. In addition, you agree to accept the decisions of Mercatus Center, as final and binding as it relates to the content.

 By entering you agree to release and hold harmless Mercatus Center and its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from (i) such entrant’s participation in the sweepstakes and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof, (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions or telephone or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (v) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries. THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, WITHOUT RESPECT TO CONFLICT OF LAW DOCTRINES. 

As a condition of participating in this Sweepstakes, participant agrees that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in Virginia having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e., costs associated with entering this contest), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.  Participant further warrants that Mercatus Center shall have the right to substitute prizes and interpret rules in its sole discretion and that all such decisions are final and unappealable.
